Fuel Your Body, Feed Your Soul

Açaí bowls, cold-pressed juices, and plant-based eats with serious Pacific Beach energy.

About Us

On Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach, The Mad Beet does something most health food spots forget to do: make it fun. The walls are steeped in late-90s and early-2000s hip hop culture, free arcade games line the space, and the whole vibe feels less like a wellness errand and more like hanging out with friends who happen to feed you really well. Over 889 reviewers have rated it 4.5 stars, and the consistent thread across all of them is the same word: energy.

The food earns every bit of that reputation. The Green Latifah, a cold-pressed green juice that regulars rave about, has the kind of flavor balance that makes you stop mid-sip and think. The açaí bowls are dense, fresh, and built to satisfy, not just look good on a screen. Everything on the menu leans plant-based, drawing from Brazilian açaí traditions and California's obsession with clean, whole ingredients.

This is the corner of Garnet Ave where eating healthy stopped feeling like a compromise.

What We Offer

The Mad Beet runs a full menu built around cold-pressed juices, thick açaí bowls, house salads, and a rotating lineup of smoothies and plant-based plates. Whether you're grabbing a quick green juice before hitting the beach or settling in for a full bowl loaded with granola, fresh fruit, and nut butter, the kitchen has you covered.

The vegan and vegetarian menu means nearly everything is fair game regardless of your dietary approach. Brazilian-inspired açaí preparations sit alongside California-style salads and creative juice blends that actually taste like they were designed, not just thrown together. Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, and the staff knows the menu cold.

Dine in and take advantage of the arcade games and the playlist, or grab your order to go and head straight for the sand. Either way, you're two minutes from the Pacific.

"The Mad Beet commits fully to its late 90s and early 2000s hip hop era, and honestly, it pulls it off. Retro vibes, free arcade games, and an atmosphere that feels more like a hangout than a restaurant, in a good way. Extra credit for actually letting you play the games instead of just using them as decor. I was not very hungry, so I went with the Arctik Monkey smoothie with peanut butter and chocolate. Straight up delicious and absolutely something I would order again without hesitation. My wife ordered the Feta y Verdes veggie wrap, and even she was surprised by how good it was, which says a lot because she knows her veggies. Fresh, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying. Veggie lovers, consider this your official heads up. The arcade lineup is solid too. Pac Man, Mortal Kombat II, The Simpsons, a classic Star Wars Atari cabinet, plus others. Waiting for food did not feel like waiting. It felt like killing time in the best possible way. One quick warning. The hip hop playlist is not radio edited. Totally fine for adults, but if you are bringing kids, just know you might be explaining some lyrics on the drive home. Overall, fun spot, good food, strong throwback energy. I would definitely come back."

"I had never been to the Mad Beet before but I’ve driven by plenty of times. I’m very biased on where I get my açaí bowls and really didn’t know what to expect. The Mad Beet is solid! Good energy when you walk in, everyone is really nice and the items have fun names. I ordered an açaí bowl and really enjoyed it, the Beyoncai bowl! Easily on of my top 3 favorite açaí bowls in town. They also have a bunch of free video arcade games to play while you wait. I’m excited to come back and try out more menu items!"

"YUM!!! I want their recipe to the outstanding green juice we ordered. The green latifah I think it was. Just a perfect blend! The balance of flavors made me keep coming back for more. The only sad thing is we didn’t have time to return once (or twice) a day as we had intended while vacationing. It was so good it’s inspired me to get back to juicing for myself and my daughter again. Thanks Mad Beet! Love the creativity, concoctions, and retro video games available for no cost."

"Great smoothies and acai bowls! But unfortunately like most places in recent years, quality has gone down a bit while prices have skyrocketed. They recently trimmed way back on their menu, which is fine. But they also added protein to all their smoothies for some reason, I guess to justify the price increase? My go-to smoothie is now $14.19 out the door. Prob won't be going back any time soon for that reason."

"Been going here for years. Best açaí bowl in PB maybe even all SD. Funny to read all the 1 star “covid” reviews about masks and distancing considering new studies out show masks and distancing did nothing. The fresh fruit is better medicine than any fabricated vaccine. Stay strong mad beet!"
