Mad Beet Vibes: Açaí Bowls, Juices & 90s Hip Hop Hangout

San Diego's ultimate healthy escape on Garnet Ave – fresh acai bowls, killer green juices, free arcade games and retro energy that keeps you coming back.

About Us

Step into The Mad Beet on Garnet Ave in San Diego's Pacific Beach and get transported to the golden era of late 90s and early 2000s hip hop. This isn't your average juice joint – it's a full-on vibe. Blasting classic tracks from Biggie, Tupac, and Missy Elliott, we've crafted a hangout where fresh, vibrant eats meet nostalgic fun. Free arcade games flicker in the corner, neon signs glow with attitude, and the air hums with good energy.

We're obsessed with fueling San Diego's active crowd – surfers shaking off saltwater, yogis craving post-flow fuel, and anyone ready to ditch the processed junk. Our Brazilian-inspired acai bowls are piled high with organic fruits, crunchy granola, and nutty toppings that explode with flavor. Green juices like the legendary Green Latifah blend pineapple, kale, ginger, and citrus into a perfect, addiction-worthy sip. Salads burst with local greens, vegan dressings, and bold combos that make healthy feel indulgent.

With 4.5 stars from 889 raving reviews, The Mad Beet isn't just a spot to grab a bowl – it's your PB headquarters for feeling alive, connected, and unapologetically mad about great food. Come vibe, play, and nourish. You're home.

What We Offer

Dive into our menu of guilt-free power-ups designed for San Diego's go-getters. Start with legendary acai bowls – thick, creamy bases topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, blueberries, coconut flakes, chia seeds, and honey for that perfect sweet-crunch balance. Craving green? Our cold-pressed juices like Green Latifah (pineapple-kale-ginger magic) or Beet It (earthy beet-apple-ginger kick) detox and energize in one gulp.

Salads shine with options like the Mad Cobb – romaine, avocado, chickpeas, roasted veggies, and tahini drizzle for vegan glory. Smoothies pack protein punches with peanut butter, cacao, and spinach. All vegetarian, mostly vegan, 100% Brazilian flair. Grab-and-go for beach days or linger for arcade battles. Every bite screams fresh, local ingredients sourced from SoCal farms. Fuel up, level up – The Mad Beet's got your back.

"The Mad Beet commits fully to its late 90s and early 2000s hip hop era, and honestly, it pulls it off. Retro vibes, free arcade games, and an atmosphere that feels more like a hangout than a restaurant, in a good way. Extra credit for actually letting you play the games instead of just using them as decor. I was not very hungry, so I went with the Arctik Monkey smoothie with peanut butter and chocolate. Straight up delicious and absolutely something I would order again without hesitation. My wife ordered the Feta y Verdes veggie wrap, and even she was surprised by how good it was, which says a lot because she knows her veggies. Fresh, flavorful, and genuinely satisfying. Veggie lovers, consider this your official heads up. The arcade lineup is solid too. Pac Man, Mortal Kombat II, The Simpsons, a classic Star Wars Atari cabinet, plus others. Waiting for food did not feel like waiting. It felt like killing time in the best possible way. One quick warning. The hip hop playlist is not radio edited. Totally fine for adults, but if you are bringing kids, just know you might be explaining some lyrics on the drive home. Overall, fun spot, good food, strong throwback energy. I would definitely come back."

"I had never been to the Mad Beet before but I’ve driven by plenty of times. I’m very biased on where I get my açaí bowls and really didn’t know what to expect. The Mad Beet is solid! Good energy when you walk in, everyone is really nice and the items have fun names. I ordered an açaí bowl and really enjoyed it, the Beyoncai bowl! Easily on of my top 3 favorite açaí bowls in town. They also have a bunch of free video arcade games to play while you wait. I’m excited to come back and try out more menu items!"

"YUM!!! I want their recipe to the outstanding green juice we ordered. The green latifah I think it was. Just a perfect blend! The balance of flavors made me keep coming back for more. The only sad thing is we didn’t have time to return once (or twice) a day as we had intended while vacationing. It was so good it’s inspired me to get back to juicing for myself and my daughter again. Thanks Mad Beet! Love the creativity, concoctions, and retro video games available for no cost."

"Great smoothies and acai bowls! But unfortunately like most places in recent years, quality has gone down a bit while prices have skyrocketed. They recently trimmed way back on their menu, which is fine. But they also added protein to all their smoothies for some reason, I guess to justify the price increase? My go-to smoothie is now $14.19 out the door. Prob won't be going back any time soon for that reason."

"Been going here for years. Best açaí bowl in PB maybe even all SD. Funny to read all the 1 star “covid” reviews about masks and distancing considering new studies out show masks and distancing did nothing. The fresh fruit is better medicine than any fabricated vaccine. Stay strong mad beet!"
